Does anybody know what work is being done on the bypass?   I thought I heard part of a piece on the TV news describing work on the shoulder that would last until November.  If that's the case, I would question the decision to spend that much money on a road shoulder that looks to be in pretty good shape.

Yes, they are widening the shoulder with blacktop and additional gravel.  It is needed, and needs to be done professionally.  The related traffic mess isn't too bad, yet. I drove it yesterday, without work being done, and it wasn't too bad.  When the trucks are lined up in convoy it will get worse.
