I am in complete agreement the signs are far better than getting those phone calls.  I certainly hope the phone calls are at least informative, should they occur.  What I am surprised is that the signs are even there.  I find it very interesting that the only reason I can come up with is the players have excessive ego's and they want to win to stroke their ego.

It would be far more interesting should they study with the teachers and find out what works best for the students in their getting educated.

I really don't think they just campaign for votes to "stroke their egos." I'm sure they feel they are the best qualified for the job and need to campaign for votes. It must work, otherwise, why wouldn't you campaign? What if you did spend all your time with the teachers that you can, researching the needs of today's educators, but did not use campaign signs and therefore lost the election. Does that sound right?

Another factor to consider is that those signs cost money. Lots of money. There are a few business in town that make and sell these signs. If you got rid of the signs, you're possibly putting those people out of work.

One final opinion is that every local politician, be it school board, city council, county supervisor, etc, has an ego. Somewhere along the line, they had to have thought, "I'm the perfect one for this job." Now, if that isn't an ego, I don't know what is. I would rather have someone with an ego in office that someone with low self esteem.
