When Jesus was teaching, there as a man in the crowd who was a scholar of the law. He wanted to test Jesus, so he asked, "Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?" Knowing the man's heart, Jesus answered him by challenging him in return with questions about the Scriptures. "What is written in the law? How do you read it?" The man replied, "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself." Jesus nodded and said, "You have answered correctly; do this and you will live." But the man was not satisfied. He wanted to be able to impress the crowd with his knowledge of the law and he hoped to embarrass Jesus. "And who is my neighbor?" he asked. I nstead of answering the man directly, Jesus decided to tell a story. "A man fell victim to robbers as he went down from Jerusalem to Jericho. They stripped him and beat him and went off leaving him half-dead." Then Jesus described the actions of three men who passed the injured man. The first man was a priest. When he saw the man, he crossed the road and ignored him. The next man was a Levite. He, too, chose to cross to the other side of the road and continue on his way. But the third man was a Samaritan. The Samaritans and the Jews have hated each other for centuries. Jesus knew the people were probably expecting the Samaritan in the story to cross the road as well. Jesus continued his story. "But a Samaritan traveler who came upon him was moved with compassion at the sight. He approached the victim, poured oil and wine over his wounds and bandaged them. Then he lifted him up on his own animal, took him to an inn and cared for him. The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper with the instruction, 'Take care of him. If you spend more than what I have given you, I shall repay you on my way back.'" Then Jesus looked into the man's eyes and asked him, “Which of these three, in your opinion, was neighbor to the robbers’ victim?" The man said plainly, "The one who treated him with mercy." Then Jesus said, "Go and do likewise."

Msmal, you ask where was Sen Cornyn when the bill was being debated - that answer is v ery simple. The dems cooked up the bill behind closed doors with guards outside and then passed it in the middle of the night after using strong arm tactics on reluctant dems. Not one Repuiblican voted for the bill nor did one democrat vote against it.

Such a fantasy world.

The Affordable Health Care for America Act (or HR 3962)[1] was a bill that was crafted by the United States House of Representatives in November 2009. At the encouragement of the Obama administration, the 111th Congress devoted much of its time to enacting reform of the United States' health care system. Known as the "House bill," it was the House of Representative's chief legislative proposal during the health reform debate, but the Affordable Health Care for America Act as originally drafted never became law.

On December 24, 2009, the Senate passed an alternative health care bill, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (H.R. 3590).[2] In 2010, the House abandoned its reform bill in favor of amending the Senate bill (via the reconciliation process) in the form of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010

The newly amended bill eventually passed the House of Representatives at 11:19 PM EST on Saturday, November 7, 2009, by a vote of 220-215. The bill passed with support of the majority of Democrats, together with one Republican who voted only after the necessary 218 votes had already been cast. Thirty-nine Democrats voted against the bill. All members of the House voted, and none voted "present".[27]

The Affordable Health Care for America Act, H.R. 3962, was introduced in the House of Representatives on October 29, 2009, and referred to several Committees for consideration.

A different bill, under the same bill number H.R. 3962, was eventually passed by Congress and, on June 25, 2010, was signed by the President. This is the "Preservation of Access to Care for Medicare Beneficiaries and Pension Relief Act of 2010."[31]

That is all from Wikipedia.

I looks like the Senator had plenty of time to propose an amendment.    Roughly Oct. 2009 to Jun. 2010.

Note it was originally crafted in the House.   Not in the middle of the night.   Nor was the alternate Senate version.

The final vote was at 11:19 pm.   Close to the "middle of the night", but that is in the House, not the Senate.

You'll also note it got a one Republican vote, and 39 Democrats voted against it.

How wrong can you be?

Msmal, numerous persons have reminded you that wikipedia is not a reliable source of info and indeed, that is true in this case.

Can you prove any of this is wrong?   I think it's factual.

Now from the U. S, Senate web site.

Between Nov. 21 and Dec. 24 there were 34 votes on the bill.

21 passed.

Of those total votes, 21 votes were on amendments.   15 passed.

Now I ask where was the Senator?    Why did he present no amendments then and complain now?

Numerous persons simply don't accept facts.
