Girl Scouts troops need adults

Posted in: NAP- Neighborhood Alliance of Pawtucket
Like games? Sports? Camping? Crafts? Challenges? New adventures? Making new friends? Helping girls grow strong in their own beliefs, talents, self-esteem? Promote citizenship and community awareness and service? WE NEED YOU!
Adults, both male and female ages 18 and older are needed to help run girl scout troops in Pawtucket. These troops are in jeopardy of closing down in January due to lack of adult volunteers:
Cunningham School has a Junior troop (grades 4-6), Baldwin School has a Brownie troop (grades 1-3) and Prospect Heights has a Junior/Cadette troop (ages 9-14).
GSRI offers adults free leader training, program packets/totes and resources to help in the running of these troops.
A new Junior troop is being looked at for Curvin McCabe and it will need leaders too.
Two or three adults can get together and serve as a leader team. You can make a difference in a girl's life.

Call Liz at the Girl Scout office 331-4500 x 402 for more details.

Helpers may be mentors

Perhaps the RI Mentoring organization can help as there is a group that Elaine Cruz and others are involved in with the COZ program. They are having their statehouse day on the 6th at 3pm I believe, but might be a good time for a New Year's resolution article for the papers..
