The kind congregation at Park Place Congregational will now host the weekly Saturday afternoon soup kitchens from 4 to 5 p.m. weekly. The best news is the homeless and hungry will be in larger quarters with more room to move around. The bad news is the former site, Hispanic Evangelical on Dexter Street, served 55 to 60 people weekly since December 2007. The weekly numbers two years ago would be about 14 to 35 clients per week. How does the community combat the double problem of homelessness and hunger? The city of Pawtucket has a great base in the Pawtucket Soup Kitchen on Pleasant Street and St. John the Baptist on Quincy Street? How else can we help the homeless and the hungry?
