We will be discussing foreclosures in your neighborhoods and what you need to do to report to Pawtucket Planning to keep track of them for our safety and house values. Call 724-5200 and tell Barney Heath of any locations you are concerned about, but if there is trash and problems, call 728-0500 and ask for code enforcement and explain the problem...They will go to court to enforce the proper upkeep. If you see a drug dealing or homeless living in the vacant houses....Crycall the police at 727-9100 and report the problem. There is a planned Foreclosure Summit soon planned for April, so we are all learning and navigating thru the problems for our solutions.

By the way we are looking at 200 foreclosure right now, which is far less than Providence or Cranston, but a reall hassle and mind thumper for those living near or next to the properties. Do not be afraid to speak out and report any concerns. Police and others do not require you to leave your name or numbers.Yell

Barney Heath plans to attend our March 11th meeting at Oak Hill Nursing Home at Pleasant Street, so come and join us for other officials and the police.

Other questions or concerns will be shared at the meeting at 7pm Tuesday.

About foreclosed property in Pawtucket,  I have informed Barney Heath recently that two homes on the east side of the city have been foreclosed within the last two weeks.  What makes this unusual is the homes are private family homes.  In one case, the former residents Adjustable Rate Mortgage rose to $2,400 per month.  In the second case, the homeowner used an ARM to borrow money to buy a nearby apartment.  As a result, he lost his home and may well be on his course to losing his apartment.  Does anyone have any information about how many homes or apartments in this city have been lost to foreclosure in 2008?

Two Hundred already and still growing...Sad commentary that so many are the fly by nite vultures and not the local or big national banks who generally try to cooperate a bit more. We have talked about the two non profit housing groups or a private contractor-s to perhaps benefit us all as the prices decline, but some have so much into them, the prices were too high to negotiate.  See you on Tuesday nite.
