Dear Arthur,
How many coats were distributed on Buy Nothing Coat Day from the Visitors Center site? On Friday morning, I could see dozens of people headed into the center from many different directions.
Peace,
Jim

I believe we had close to a thousand adults and kids that came thru with over 4000 coats, hats, scarves and mittens given out...We will need to plan next year for more bags to put coats in and also the kids books. We had long lines til 11'sh and it was packed as we limited people within the facility. We still had extra coats to share with Woonsocket and Providence and some left over to give to the St John's Church food pantry next week and a few others like the BV Shelter for the kids and Ernies soup kitchen at St josephs Church. We were incredibly well supplied with baby and kids stuff for the first time that were well needed and many happy faces and warm bodies as a result of the coats available. We had some wonderful youth and adult volunteers as well as great support from the Blackstone Tourism Council and the Visitors Center staff. This was the first year the Alternate Learning School had some youth volunteers who helped us sort the many boxes and bags on Wednesday. A special gift was when a woman who was homeless a few years ago came to find a better coat for herself and did find one with her joy and left her other coat and that she will return next year to help as well.
