Could you spare an hour once a week or every month?  It could help  homebound seniors in Pawtucket to get Meals on Wheels from the the Jewish Community Center to deliver kosher meals to homebound seniors and many of them live in Oak Hill/Sayles Plat. The only commitment is one hour per day, at lunchtime. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated especially on Wednesday and Thursday.. 861-8800, Extension 108- Sue Suls Director of Adult Services & Community Programmingn at the Jewish Community Center of Rhode Island ssuls@jccri.org

sure would like to but I work, but will try to pass along to some work at home folks or retirees, but some complain the gas prices have reigned them in a bit on other stuff

Remember too that the Serve RI/VCRI wants to have 20000 new volunteers in two years, so you can go on the www.vcri.org website for registering your hours or looking for opportunities to volunteer whether at your church or perhaps the KleenUp on the 25th of April in many areas of Pawtucket from Quality Hill, Woodlawn and down to Oak Hill and in your neighborhood too if you want?

As you know, we have launched a campaign called "Call to Service 2009" with the goal of recruiting 20,000 more Rhode Islanders into volunteer service.  Given these difficult economic times, our state needs many more volunteers like you to step up to help in a wide variety of ways - in our schools, in our non-profit human and health service agencies, in our arts organizations and with our environmental organizations.  There is a great deal of service work to be done!

We are writing to ask for  your help in a couple of ways:

1.  If you haven't done so already, please go to our website and join the Serve Corps.  We're looking to include as many of our current volunteers who currently ( or are planning to) give two or more hours of their time each month to service.  We're also looking for another 20,000 to join as well.  Just go to www.serverhodeisland.org and follow the "Join Us" tabs.

2.  Invite your family and friends to volunteer and to join the Serve Corps.
