Alice Peacock will be performing at Stone Soup Coffeehouse on February 28, 2009. Ray Cooke is opening the concert. Stone Soup is located at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 50 Park Place, Pawtucket, RI. Concerts start at 8:00 PM; tickets are $15.00 through PayPal or at the door the night of the show.
With a new CD, "Love Remains," to be released in March, Alice Peacock explains why she does what she does. "Becoming a songwriter was a matter of necessity. It's how I communicate. It's how I give what I have to give." Her 2006 CD, "Who I Am," recalls the golden age of singer-songwriter pop. It is impeccably crafted, but what's most affecting is how easy and organic it feels, how directly Alice's voice connects with the listener.
She has also started the not-for-profit organization Rock for Reading, which, Alice says simply, "puts books in kids' hands." "To me, literacy is a basic human right, but one out of five Americans is functionally illiterate," she reports.
A native Rhode Islander who now resides in Foster, Ray Cooke began writing in his teens and completed his first song, Lonely Gerl, at the age of 18. He's been honing and refining his acoustic music ever since. His first CD, "Chasin' the Bliss," has been well received locally and showcases Ray's strong vocals and haunting lyrics.
