Seasonal Education Assistant, Narragansett Bay Research Reserve (NBRR)
The NBRR (www.nbnerr.org) is one of 27 coordinated sites located around the coastal United States that make up the National Estuarine Research Reserve System (NERRS). The mission of the NERRS is to practice and promote coastal and estuarine stewardship through innovative research and education, using a system of protected areas. The NBRR is located in the middle of Narragansett Bay on Prudence Island, Rhode Island, and is only accessible from the mainland by ferry or boat. This position is based on Prudence with some work to be conducted in the DEM offices in Providence , and in other locations around Narragansett Bay . This position reports to senior Reserve staff including the Education Coordinator and the Coastal Training Program (CTP) Coordinator. Duties include assisting in various components of the Reserve's education programs and especially helping with the planning and implementation of professional development workshops for teachers and coastal decision makers, and supporting staff with event outreach and education programs for the general public. The ideal candidate will possess a personal interest in estuaries and the marine environment and a commitment to the mission of the organization. This is a 35 hour/week position from approximately May to October.
