NAP- Neighborhood Alliance of Pawtucket

March is National Colon Health Month

Posted in: NAP- Neighborhood Alliance of Pawtucket

We sure need to make sure we get the prevention stuff to prevent colon cancer. I know a guy who waited too long and the end is probably too close for him.

Certainly those insurance companies need to clean up their act to not build big buildings on our backs of saving bucks to stop us from being healthy.

Have put Jim in contact with the Health dept about the 5pm doctor denials and they are investigating some of the other stuff like Breast Cancer and treatments and non treatments.  Remember you do have a right to dispute insurance company denials. It is a process, but we need to challenge things that are wrong if you disagree.

Remember the Health Dept is applying for CDC funding for colonosopy for the uininsured, so a letter to the DOH c/o Sue Shepardson is good document support for RI winning one of the grants

Dear Arthur and friends,

A friend of mine, who is a health professional, said the $50 charge for an after 5 p.m. visit only applies to certain health care providers on a small number of plans.  Lesson learned here:  Read the fine print on ones health care contract.

By the way, if a bill should come from my doctor charging me the extra $50 for the routine physical, I will contest this bill.  What still amazes me is the doctor's secretary placed me with the post 5 p.m. time without telling me about the health care provisions.

If times are restricted to see a physician, why bother having health care?

Peace,

Jim

Always check the fine print but one can always challenge such things and hopefully you passed along these things to the Health Dept for their review as well.

Note there is a Cancer Summit coming up in mid June I believe, but I posted on the calendar and willupdate with details for anyone to attend...
