I plan to as well, but on the 18th, this may be a vcool green too
Very Green Day! April 18 Lincoln Chafee to Speak.
Hi, Rhode Island Peaceniks, Environmentalists, Progressives and Liberals:
Although Saturday, April 18 isn't quite Earth Day, it's
going to be a very Green day indeed.
In the afternoon the Rhode Island Green Party will be holding it
spring meeting ... with former Senator Lincoln Chafee as the speaker. He
has made it plain he's very much interested in running for Governor next
year and he'll no doubt tell us why. Although it is a meeting of the
Green Party, all are welcome although, of course, when it gets down to
party business after Chafee's talk, only members will be able to vote.
Chafee will be speaking at the Green Party meeting from 3 to 5 p.m. at the
Mediator, hotbed
of progressive/liberal activities for decades. 50 Rounds Ave. in the
Reservoir Triangle. [Need directions? Send me an e-mail telling me where
you're coming from and I'll tell you how to get there.]
But that's not the end of this very Green day. In the evening,
shortly after 5, there will be a "time" for Greg Gerritt, who for many
years has personified the RI Green Party, most notably as candidate for
Mayor some years ago. But many Rhode Islanders will also know him for his
tireless work over the years for a number of environmental organizations.
There is no one in Rhode Island who is much greener [capital G or small g]
than Greg.
There won't be a lot of talking but plenty of good food for the
evening is being catered by More Than a Meal, the catering service of Amos
House that has been garnering raves for a couple of years now. Many
organizations hire More Than a Meal because not only is the food very good
at a reasonable cost but it helps support Amos House, the largest soup
kitchen in Rhode island. The cost: a very reasonable $25. Details and a
reservation form are below. I hope to see you there. Peace. Richard
Walton.
