April 5, 2009
Dear Arthur,
My wife, my son, 16, his girlfriend, and I witnessed what may have been a drug deal active at the Slater Mill entrance on Saturday, April 4 at 5:30 p.m. Three men in a brown, late model car with heavily brown tinted windows with Vermont license plates were dealing drugs inside the car, on Leather Avenue, just south of the Pawtucket Police Station.
As soon as my car got near the Vermont car, they quickly sped toward the east side of Slater Mill, near the Blackstone River.
Three reasons why this incident is disturbing: One, the dealers proved brazen enough to deal a few hundred feet south of the Police Station. Two, the dealers were working in front of a popular historic site, with no regard for public safety or Pawtucket's public image. Most importantly, third of all, my 16 year old and his out -of-town girlfriend need not see this illegal stupidity.
My sole regret is I did not get the license plate number of the Vermont vehicle.
Arthur, please pass this note onto the proper police officials.
