To prevent any baby or child from being left alone, why not use fire station or police precinct baby drop off places throughout the city?   Maybe charges of child neglect are not fitting, because the mother is just plain overwhelmed with emergencies.  Perhaps a part-time translator could be used at these places.

Due to language barrier problems, sudden work call-ins, and lack of a babysitter, why cannot a parent in a dire emergency drop a child off at the fire station or police precinct for two or three hours?

In essence, this could help the mother be at ease and less of wear on DCYF.

Is a fireman or policeman supposed to be a babysitter now?

Who will pay for these instant gratifications?

What about reponsibilities...especially after the second child with no father. ..?

This is just a cop out and child neglect is certainly fitting.

Would you say the same thing if one or more children were killed or hurt or they burned the house down?

I think we need to put responsibilities back on people too...

If this Mom is too overwhelmed, they can drop the kids off w/o problems as an infant and I would assume as they age w/o problems. Not the greatest solution, but at least the kids would not be hurt.

Then these kids would be in limbo at the states expense for years probably as they moved to curtail the parent rights to the kids before they were put up for adoption.

So who really wins?
