The 2-ton 1916 German Krupp 150mm Heavy Howitzer was returned to its longtime home — Hiker Park, at the corner of Grove and Spring streets in Pawtucket — on Wednesday, after it was completely refurbished by Taber Woodworking of Marion, Mass. with funds from the National Parks Service’s ‘Save America’s Treasures’ grant program to preserve significant cultural heritage artifacts. The 150mm Heavy Howitzer was originally delivered to the City of Pawtucket in June 1925. It had been removed for the refurbishing project in April.
