Probe leads to arrest of Central Falls man CENTRAL FALLS — The Central Falls police Monday charged Neftali Negron, 21, formerly of 50 Garfield St., with possession of a firearm with intent to deliver cocaine, possession of a firearm with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of cocaine with intent to deliver and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. After a joint investigation by Central Falls and Providence police, Negron was arrested Monday in Providence. The investigation started March 10 during a probe by Providence police of firearms and narcotics distribution. The investigation led to a joint search by narcotics detectives from both cities of Negron’s second-floor apartment. At the apartment, the police found a .357 Colt Python along with drugs, the police said. Negron, did not have a permanent address, the police said.. Although he was able to elude the police for several months, continued efforts by both departments led to his arrest Monday at 10:30 p.m., the police said. — Tatiana Pina Central Falls adds patrols after shooting CENTRAL FALLS — The Police Department has added patrols after a woman and girl were wounded by gunshots as they sat on the front steps of an apartment building on Garfield Street. The woman and girl were on the stoop of 106 Garfield St. with several other people Sunday night when they were shot. Capt. James J. Mendonca said that additional marked and unmarked police cars are patrolling the streets. “We are doing everything in our power to ensure the safety of the people of Central Falls. We want them to know we are actively looking,” Mendoca said. An unnamed 10-year-old girl and Diane Eadiekromah, 48, were shot while they were chatting with friends. The girl, who was shot in the leg, was released from Rhode Island Hospital Tuesday, Mendonca said. Eadiekromah was treated and released from Rhode Island Hospital Sunday. Mendonca said that the police have suspects but have made no arrests. He said Central Falls officers are working with the Pawtucket police while they investigate the shooting and the possibility of a Pawtucket connection. Pawtucket police say they are investigating two shootings that occurred Sunday in their city as a possible feud between two groups and potentially related to the Garfield Avenue shooting, according to Pawtucket Detective Donti Rosciti. They have reopened several unsolved cases, he said.
