Dear Neighbors,

I read from a website a house once existed across the street from Slater Mill that was a "stop" on the Abolitionist Underground Railroad during the 1840's and 1850's. The website claimed the house existed near the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Leather Street.  This area of the Underground Railroad "stop" is now the parking lot for the Blackstone Valley Heritage Corridor Visitors Center.   Neighbors, please confirm or deny this.

What other sites existed in Pawtucket. as part of ex-slave Harriet Tubman's social movement to send escaped slaves to New England and Canada?

If what the website said is true, why is there no commemoration of the Underground Railroad at Slater Mill?

Peace,

Ludlow1

I believe there were many but we will check out...and go to the November Betty Awards dinner for the Betty Johnson Research center support to get more of this out.

Why are you posting on the Heritage East web site...we are in New Mexico and you are in R.I.
