Paul J. Wildenhain ( WITH PHOTO AND FLAG) Paul J. Wildenhain, 76, of Hanover Ave, Pawtucket, a member of the Pawtucket City Council, died Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at home. He was the loving husband of Florence L. (Ware) Wildenhain. They were married 49 years. Mr. Wildenhain was born in Pawtucket, the son of the late Bartholomew and Magdalen (McGuirk) Wildenhain.Upon his graduation from St. Raphael Academy in Pawtucket Mr. Wildenhain spent time studying with the Christian Brothers of De LaSalle. He then served in the United States Navy. Mr. Wildenhain was employed by the Corning Glass works in Central Falls for over 20 years where he worked in various capacities including President and Recording Secretary of Local 1007 of the American Flint Glassworkers Union. In 1985 Mr. Wildenhain was appointed by former Gov. J. Joseph Garrahy as an advocate for Workers Compensation for the State of RI until his retirement in 2005. Mr. Wildenhain was a member of the Pawtucket School Committee, serving as Chairman for two terms. He was then elected to the Pawtucket City Council in 1997, where he served on various committees including his favorite as Chairman the Animal Control Committee. He was a strong advocate of the Pawtucket Police Departments DARE Program and was a member of Pawtucket Knights of Columbus, Lodge # 57. Besides his loving wife Mr. Wildenhain is survived by his five sons, Matthew and his wife Diane, Mark, Donald and his wife Stacey, Christopher and his wife Petra , and Kevin Wildenhain a daughter, Paula Wildenhain, his brothers David and Peter Wildenhain and a sister, Sr. Anne-Marie Wildenhain SSJ, and his grandchildren, Stacie, Scott, Kailey, Ryan, Paul, Gerrit, Brenden and Evan as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Donald, John, Bartholomew and Mary-Grace Wildenhain. The funeral for Mr. Wildenhain will be Saturday at 9:00am from the MANNING-HEFFERN FUNERAL HOME 68 Broadway, Pawtucket with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Josephs Church, Walcott St, Pawtucket at 10:00am His burial will be with full Military Honors in Mt. St. Marys Cemetery. The calling hours for Mr. Wildenhain will be Friday 2-6pm in the funeral home.
