NO BIN – NO TRASH PICK UP PROGRAM
On September 13, the City will be implementing a new system for collecting trash and recyclables. What it all comes down to is that people need to put out their recycle bins with their regular trash. If the trash collector comes down your street and you have not put out your green and blue bins, your trash will not be picked up. Also if the recycle truck comes by before the regular trash truck, DO NOT PUT YOUR RECYCLE BINS AWAY, because if the regular trash truck comes by and does not see the recycle bins, again your trash will not be picked up. BOTH BINS NEED TO BE PLACED AT THE SIDEWALK FOR YOUR TRASH TO BE PICKED UP.
There are 11 cities and towns using this method-Coventry, Cranston, Cumberland, East Providence, Lincoln, North Providence, North Smithfield, Providence, Smithfield, Tiverton and Warren. All have been successful in increasing recycling. Pawtucket will be the 12th city to join ranks. Let’s prove to everyone that we can increase our recyclables. Let’s face it everyone gets junk mail and unwanted catalogs which are perfect items for the green bins. 99% of families drink milk, juice or bottled water which are items that go in the blue bins.
If you need bins, you can pick purchase them at the Sanitation Department, 250 Armistice Blvd. If you need more information, call 728-0500 extension 282 or 213.
