Rhonda Price has accepted the position of Interim Executive Director for the Woodlawn CDC.
Rhonda is presently the Executive Director and founder of the Community Justice Educational Program (CJEP) located on the Feinstein/University of Rhode Island Providence Campus. CJEP is a comprehensive alternative educational program that provides educational, social and entrepreneurial resources and services to at-risk youth.
Prior to establishing the CJEP, Rhonda was a small minority business owner in East Providence, where she operated a flower shop and nursery.
She has twenty years of judicial experience in diverse capacities. She worked for the state court system as a victims’ advocate and as a pre-trial counselor where she supervised defendants who were released on bail under court ordered stipulations. Following those appointments, she was employed at the Federal Court in Providence for thirteen years in the following positions: Executive Assistant to the Clerk of Court, Magistrate Judges’ Courtroom/Calendar Clerk, District Judges’ Courtroom Clerk and eleven years as the Human Resources Manager.
When speaking with Rhonda she has said "I am humbled by this appointment to the WCDC and look forward to assisting the community in meeting their needs. These are very difficult times we are all experiencing but I am a firm believer in faith and hard work as being the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Just because you don't see the change, doesn't mean it's not there. It will come if we all apply ourselves and keep our mission in the forefront. I am no stranger to hard work and have been working since I was thirteen years old."
"I am a single parent of three great kids, two boys and a girl who are 36, 30, and 26 years old and I am so glad they are all grown up:). I know too well, how difficult it is to raise a child alone, however, I know that it can be done when you have a good family and community support system. It definitely takes a Village and I believe that Woodlawn is that village."
"Again, I look forward to meeting all of the stakeholders in the Woodlawn community."
Rhonda will be working closely with the staff to ensure that all programs continue as usual and the Woodlawn CDC continues to provide a great service to the community. I will keep you all informed as we move forward in our search for a full time Executive Director. Please forward this email to anyone I may have missed.
Please help me in welcoming Rhonda to the Woodlawn CDC and Pawtucket!
