For hundreds of lobbyists who represented clients before the General Assembly last year, Tuesday is the deadline for filing two important reports. State law requires legislative lobbyists and their firms and clients to file 2012 Annual Reports and December 2012 monthly reports with us by Jan. 15. Improving Executive Lobbying
In addition, legislation improving executive lobbying reporting goes into effect this year. Everyone who lobbies the executive branch and public corporations also faces a deadline as well as new requirements. So-called "executive" lobbyists who were registered in 2012 must file July-through-December lobbying reports by Jan. 30. For-profit Corporations to File Annual Reports
The beginning of the new year means tens of thousands of companies doing business in Rhode Island must file annual reports with us. About 30,000 companies ranging from car dealers to mortgage lenders to restaurants are subject to the requirement. Failure to file an annual report can result in fines and the revocation of a corporation's Certificate of Incorporation or Certificate of Authority. Read more...
