Arizona Republic Weekend Edition, August 26, 2006:
Mesa district invites parents to more participation in schools
A meeting for parents interested in getting involved in a Mesa Public Schools initiative called Mesa Parents Advocates for Quality Schools can attend the first meeting of the year at 7p.m. Tuesday.
It will be held at the School Board room, 549 N. Stapley Drive. There will be an orientation for newcomers at 6:30 p.m. The parents group, which is open to the public, gives parents a chance to meet and work with Superintendent Debra Duvall to gain knowledge about education issues.
Tuesday’s meeting will look at the positive effect of parental involvement on academic success.
