Sheppard named Acting Parks Director
Jenny Sheppard, Assistant Financial Services Manager for the City of Mesa, has been named Acting Director of the Mesa Parks and Recreation Division following the retirement of Director Bob White, effective Saturday. Sheppard will begin serving as Director on Monday.
Sheppard, a 28-year veteran of the City, has spent the last three years in the Financial Services department and has spent the majority of her time with the City in the Customer Service and City Manager's offices.
Trisha Sorensen, Acting Community Services Manager, said Sheppard brings expertise in building solid financial systems and a focus on customer service to the Parks Division. Sheppard, a certified public manager, holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and a masters' in organizational management.
Roger Okin, administrator of tax and audit collections, will take on some of Sheppard's duties in financial services. Scot Rigby, management assistant in Economic Development, will assist Sheppard in Parks on a temporary basis.
Parks and Recreation is a division of the Community Services Department.
