WHAT DOES NEAR DO?

In the last year NEAR has sponsored the following annual events:

A Clean Up Day Northeast Canton
A Spring Fling Party in the Park Scheirber Park
Two Block Parties Northeast Neighborhoods
A Block Party Blow Out Crystal Park UMC
A Community Celebration Madge Youtz Elementary
A Christmas Tree Lighting J.R. Coleman Child Care & Family Center
Karaoke Night Fairmount Elementary
Also in the last year NEAR has:

Completed a Beautification Project at Edwards Boulevard
Completed a Beautification Project with the City of Canton, at 14th & Mahoning Rd. NE
Adopted the Stark Trail on Mahoning Rd. NE
Implemented a Marketing Plan that includes a new logo, revised newsletter, Banners and a Resource Guide for the NEAR area.
Held monthly Community Meetings for all residents and interested parties to attend and work together on behalf of our neighborhood.
In 2004 NEAR hopes to spearhead a Beautification Project at the corner of Harrisburg Road, Belden Avenue and Mahoning Road NE. Our hope is to create a permanent Landmark at this intersection to welcome travelers into the NEAR community.



And lastly, you should know that The Stark Community Foundation is the driving force behind the development of Neighborhood Associations. The foundation recognizes the power of renewing neighborhoods from the inside out and NEAR wholeheartedly embraces their belief that, You Dont Have to Move to Live in a Better Neighborhood.
