Hi Friends- After posting a few days ago a reminder to keep an eye on your kiddos (800,000 kids go missing each year) --my neighborhood is currently under a careful watch. I'm sharing with this all of you, because my sense tells me it doesn't matter if a person is in my neighborhood or yours, if a perpetrator is unsuccessful in one neighborhood, he might move on to others close by. We had an incident where a white bald man was digging through mailboxes, and was reported to have tried to shove a woman in his car, and was trying to get others to come closer to his car. So watch your kiddos, watch yourselves, watch your spouses-and have the safety talk. Remind your kids (and yourselves) when someone in a car wants you to come closer to them and their vehicle, that you should to just the opposite-and start immediately heading AWAY from them and the vehicle. Remind your kids how these people will appear to be friendly, the puppy trick, the candy trick, the need directions to so and so's house trick. Tell your kids the advice my other always taught me, and is still one of the most important things to remember. NEVER LET SOMEONE TAKE YOU TO A SECOND LOCATION!!!! IF THEY ARE ARE GOING TO COMMIT A CRIME, MAKE THEM DO IT WHERE YOU CURRENTLY ARE, GETTING YOU TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION ALMOST ALWAYS WORSENS THE OUTCOME! For FYI purposes we live close to 152 /Indiana/ NE100th str. area- with lots of neighborhoods surrounding. Spread the word. If you see something/someone suspicious, report it to the police. If you are far enough away it won't hinder your safety -- take a picture. Our suspect is a white bald man originally said to be driving a small black Chevron, and recently updated to say they believe he switched cars to a small black mini-van. If you know someone who owns both these types of cars, in the area....you might share that too.
