The mission of the Northwest Aurora Neighborhood organization is to improve the image of northwest Aurora, increase the awareness and involvement of the residents toward their community and make it a desirable place to live
NANO was organized in May, 1976, the first official neighborhood group in the City of Aurora. NANO has become a vital community organization that is responsible for many worthwhile projects affecting the quality of life in Original Aurora.
Our membership is open to homeowners, renters, and business representatives.
NANO meets each month (January through May and September through November) the second Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at Fletcher Elementary School, 25th and Havana, in the cafeteria
We have an annual picnic in August and a Christmas party in December (held at Moorhead Recreation Center).
At our meetings we have presentations from City of Aurora Departments (police, fire, city council, planning, code, urban renewal, Original Aurora Renewal, forestry and parks). We also have updates on Stapleton, Fitzsimons, water, light rail, Art's District, new development and many more issues.
