Did a quick search on Curry Management and found this on another HOA website (Monticello farms)...
The board encourages all homeowners to ask questions or inquire about the
finances of the community. As many of you know, we have terminated the services of
Curry Property Management and have taken over the management of the community.
Before making this decision, the members of the board assessed the value of what
Curry was providing the community versus the cost of their monthly management fee
plus additional costs. We held several meetings to review the finances, research
maintenance providers, and prepare for the management of the community. We utilized
this process to determine if in fact the management of the community was something we
should take on given it would be a large commitment and a volunteer effort. We took
these steps keeping focus on the following goals:
- Keep the level of services the same if not better.
- Reduce the overall administrative costs.
- Be more responsive to homeowner community property values
- Promote community safety.
During this process, we determined that a large part of what Curry Management had
been providing was mostly financial upkeep: processing the bills of the community;
dispatching maintenance providers( lawn care, trash . . .) and managing the books. We
did not like the fact that we had no input in what providers were used. In addition to this,
we were never able to receive clear, understandable financial statements to determine
what was being spent and how. We were also disappointed with the level of response
received and felt that Curry was not reflecting a company that had the community
interests at heart. This information ultimately led to the board relinquishing the need for
their services. At this point we determined that it would be best to outsource the
financial management of the community and place the remaining duties of the
community on the board.
