I went to pull weeds at the entrance sign yesterday and there were two large, 4-5 foot snakes curled up in the rocks. They were not black snakes or garden snakes, as my husband and I know how to identify those. When I climbed up, one came towards me. Most harmless snakes will retreat. After looking at pictures on the internet, and considering the creek behind the sign, there is at least a chance that they were Copperheads. These can be agressive and will bite. Just fair warning, keep an eye out if you go out in that direction, and please tell kids not to mess with them if they go near the creek! Hopefully they were just harmless, but it's enough that I will not be pulling weeds there anytime soon!
