Do we still live in America????

Posted in: N Creek Village

How is it possible for us to have a signed contract with Curry when we do not even have a legal board to sign?  How can people that have no legal authority sign on behalf of 100 homeowners?  What liability does this bring us?

Why is everyone assuming that the people who have decided to be in charge are the people that will be voted in at our upcoming election?  I for one do not plan on voting for people that have been illegally collecting dues and signing contracts on my behalf.  Do we have anyone running who is aware of the least bit of liability and responsibility?  The people who ran a faux election did not even invite all the homeowners into their faux organization.  Thank goodness they understood later that they did not have the authority to accept money and pose as an association when they were called on this by a number of homeowners.

PLEASE USE YOUR VOTES WISELY!!!!!!!  Do we want the people who are usurping their authority to make the decisions on your future.  Maybe we want people to run the HOA that have our best interests at heart, rather than someone who likes to hear himself talk.  Maybe we need an actual  attorney - we have them here - that could lead us down the right patch.

Please do vote ... but vote wisely!  Talk to your neighbors.  See how we are being treated by these people, and choose someone you want to lead us!

It never fails...no matter how hard people try to improve things, there are always people who can't be pleased, no matter what.  The current people who have 'decided' to be in charge do indeed,  have all the community's best interest at heart.  After years of mis-management,  vandalism, pool closed down by the health department, poor lawn maintenance. weedy lots, a bankrupt developer and other problems too numerous to list, a few concerned residents decided to do something about it in an effort to improve things for everyone.

If you are truly concerned about the future of our community, why don't you run for election instead of bad-mouthing those who have spent their hard-earned money and time to make things better?

I completely agree with the orginal poster and completely disagree with the "Worried Homeowner" post. This is America, yet I'm being railroaded into paying over $1700 a year in homeowners dues. After attending a few "HOA" meetings, I hear the proposed representatives discussing increasing this amount to help pay for everything.

This is bullsh!t. Everyone needs to stop worrying about their neighbors and focus on their own property.

You want me to be pleased? Drop the whole home owners wanna be association and quit trying to force an overpriced HOA down our throats. I posted up a thread on Curry Management, yet no one took the time to heed the warnings of another home owners association. Now they are going to be running our meetings. How much longer till half of us have leins on our houses for not paying the dues?

First of all, you're not being railroaded into paying dues.  You knew that was part of the deal when you bought your home...assuming you're a buyer and not a renter.  As far as homeowners paying for everything, when the bank foreclosed on the property, they agreed to foot the bill for repairs to the sidewalk and streets, the pool and other needed repairs to bring the neighborhood back up to standard.  It is in their best interest to do so, since they are holding the bag and want to sell properties.

In a perfect world, it would be nice not to be governed by a HOA and have everyone take pride in their property, the clubhouse and pool.  Where do you think the funds would come from to maintain the pool, pay utilities in the clubhouse and keep the common area mowed and weeded?  Do you think your neighbors would be willing to do this voluntarily and free of charge?  I seriously doubt it.  And what about those who use the clubhouse and leave it trashed?  Who's going to keep unauthorized people out of the pool?  The reality is that there is a clubhouse and pool, whether you choose to use it or not.  Do you want it properly maintained or turned into a blight?

I think everyone has a sour taste in their mouths from so many years of mismanagement and residents not getting what they're expected to pay for.  We need to stop griping and moaning and pull together for a fresh start after the bank fulfills its promise to make repairs and restore the neighborhood.

In the beginning, when there was a maintenance couple on the premises, everything ran like clockwork.  The pool was pristine, the clubhouse had someone there, and we didn't have the continual problem of vandalism and unauthorized trespassers.   Lawns were mowed on a weekly basis and this was a wonderful place to live.  It all went down the chute when it was decided that the maintenance couple should be let go so the house they were provided could generate more income.  What a shortsighted shame.
