Dear Parents/Guardians and 8th Grade Students,

Please keep in mind this is an activity that honors the promotion of our 8th graders to their next level of education and is not intended to be a formal affair. Please do not go to undue expense. Students who do not follow the dress code will not be allowed to participate in the promotion ceremony.
Students must receive passing grades for the year in all classes and maintain positive behavior to participate in the promotion ceremony.
Any student referred to the office for discipline from this point on may be excluded from participating in the promotion ceremony, therefore it is very important to maintain good citizenship and positive behavior right up to the end of the school year. Students who may be academically ineligible to participate in the ceremony are being monitored through the counseling office. Students at-risk of not participating due to failing grades will receive a notification letter in the mail. Non-participating students will be notified prior to the ceremony.
The promotion ceremony will be held at Barry Goldwater High School, on the football field at 7:00 p.m. Students are expected to arrive on the field at 6:30 p.m. Guest seating at the stadium is done on a first come, first served basis. Numbers of guests are not limited as there is ample seating and tickets are not issued. Guests are reminded that this is an outdoor event and should prepare accordingly. If weather requires that the ceremony be cancelled, promotion certificates will be mailed home to students.
