... which is resident parking in the SG neighborhood.

Apparently the SG Neighborhood Association was NOT responsible for calling the Parkwise cops to come and ticket those of us who park on our easements. Glad to put that rumour to rest.

Which still brings us to the problem at hand. Some homes have adequate parking space for 2 or more cars. The smaller homes with smaller lots do not.

What can we as a community do about fairness in this regard?

Personally, as none of our sidewalks are paved walking areas, I do not have any problem with someone parking on their own easement. I prefer it to residents parking in the street.

Vehicles parked in the street make driving and walking on our narrow streets more dangerous, it makes it difficult for mail/package delivery, and nearly impossible for the trash/recycling pickups to flow smoothly.

I would like our neighborhood to get together a petition for an exemption to this new parking rule that apparently exists in Tucson.

I have already written to Nina Trasoff asking for her intervention.

I will contact Parkwise and see exactly what the new rules state and report back to this forum.

Thanks for correcting the error

SGNA as an association does NOT report anyone. If neighbors have a problem we only facilitate getting them to the right place to resolve it. Personally, I very much agree with you and have been talking with Roger Carrillo, Nina's aide about it. I believe most residents agree. We need to discuss this at the meeting and to get power with numbers, join the Neighborhood SupportNetwork, http://nsn.soaz.info/
If we can prove that the majority want this, I think we can eventually win! And whoever the rabble-rousers are can just move if they don't like it! Majority should rule!!

Ann, I'm delighted to hear that you are working with Nina's people on this too. I agree that if we make a good case for an exception they will grant it.

I sent an email to Parkwise asking about the actual rules and the procedures needed to get a waiver. I hope they respond soon. I will share any information I get from them.

I will do my best to attend the next meeting and I will encourage my immediate neighbors to do so too.

Feb. Meeting and parking problem

I would like to know what it is exactly that the neighbors are wanting to change. Do they want to change the city code on parking or have a separate clause just for our neighborhood? I don't feel I am clear on that. Do they want the code to allow for less of a set-back? Do they want actual sidewalks built? Have you or anyone else heard of a possible solution? I just need a starting point. My personal opinion is that if it is something that is affecting SO many people in a negative way, even if it has not directly affected me, ( except for the harasment)I am willing to help find a solution, whatever that may be. I thought educating the neighborhood on the new parking laws would do it but I guess not. Maybe it's time for a discussion at a future meeting about this.This next meeting may not be enough time with elections.
