I realize that the CC&Rs say no garage sales. I realize the traffic and problems associated with them also. However, I strongly disagree with the HOA having the authority to tell me I can't have one. We were not and have never been presented with a complete copy of the CC&Rs anyway, but there never fails to be a mention in the newsletter (whenever it comes out) that they are not allowed. However, neither are window a/c's, basketball goals, parking in common areas, etc., yet this goes on constantly. These violations are never mentioned in the newsletter. Are yard sales a pet peeve for the person who puts it out?
What would be wrong with having twice yearly community yard sales? We could schedule one for spring and one for fall. This would allow those of us with junk piled in the garage (therefore, we can't park our cars in it!) to get rid of it. If it is limited to certain weekends, we can all have one at the same time, which would be great for all of us because we'd have lots of folks come at the same time and get it over with, and we could all get more folks to pick thru our treasures. I recently gave away 2 truckloads of discards cause we can't have yard sales. I don't want to think about the $ I could have made off that junk.
I'd love some feedback from neighbors. Would anyone else be interested in a community yard sale? Is it a horrible idea?
