Real names

You expect people to use their real names? I'm sure since you are in the middle of this you've heard some of the speculation, gossiping, bad mouthing, etc. going on with speculation of who the authors are. Why would someone want all that uglisness to have their real name attached to it just for voicing an opinion? People have been black-balled in this neighborhood in the past for having a dissenting opinion, who wants that to happen to them? Maybe if people would listen and try to understand instead of attack, more could be accomplished without all the ugliness that goes around the gossip circles.

Kudos

Once again, I'd like to Thank the volunteers who care enough to make things happen. I view volunteer activities a lot like voting. If you don't vote, what right do you have to complain about the elected official.

Anyone who complains, should hop off their backsides and volunteer for committees and other neighborhood work. Then complain because the rest of the neighborhood will be sitting on their backsides watching you work for a change.

I'm not going to do it, so KUDOS to all that do!! As the editor of the newsletter, you certainly have my admiration. With all that you go through, I would have relinquished the job a long time ago.
Who Are They

Since the topic is the Newsletter, I have a question. I've noticed during the summer months the social committee posts a picture of the yard of the month. Not only are the homeowners in the picture, but their names are listed. Why the anonimity of the Christmas Decorating Contest? Do we not want to know who are neighbors are? Were there specific reasons why only the addresses were given?

Why can't everyone be treated equal in this neighborhood? This is not the first instance. I've read in the newsletter where previous block captains resigned and a big to do was made over it. The resigning block captain was not only mentioned by name, but a wonderful thank-you was given for his/ her services. Last year our block captain resigned and was not even mentioned. The only thing it said was a new block captain had joined the ranks. I don't think that was fair. Maybe that system needs to be revamped. Instead of someone appointing a captain, maybe the street should vote on it, and the block captain holds that position for x amount of time. That seems more fair and we would at least know who are captains are face to face instead of reading about them on this site.
Who are they?

We are always trying to improve the newsletter. You bring up a good point. This will help us in the future. It was just an over-site that we did not put their names in the newsletter. I apologize if this has hurt anyone in anyway.

As far as the block captains go, we have had trouble getting homeowners to volunteer for every street, but if you would like to help get this more organized you are welcome to help.

Thanks for your input.
