Albert Brigden is the man Brigden Road is named after. He was born in Penn Yan, New York in 1844. In 1885, Brigden and Mr. J. F. Crank built the Sierra Madre Vintage Company with the help of others. Three years before that he married Miss Helen Louise Whittaker. They had two children, Louise Brigden and Timothy Brigden.
The Brigden Estate was razed in 1951. You can still the two brick pillars that mark where the Brigden Estate once stood at 2077 Brigden Road.
Brigden died a horrible death. One day while he was testing a wine vaat the pressure was too high and the vat exploded. Brigden died of his injuries.
Albert Brigden had 135 acres of land and planted many of the oaks that now shade the area.
