As a community, we are not guaranteed complete safety. We as individuals can act appropriately to sustain a level of comfort. Reguardless of laws or law protection, I feel the best we can do to improve our social character is to start with children at a young age instilling simple virtues and continuing loving guidance throughout childhood years. Drugs, alcohol, weapons and mental illness are not going to go away; we can only strive to do what is right and to promote such values to those we care about. If parents, schools, friends and neighbors continue this, I would hope for greater harmony.
