NOA Meeting Minutes

July 30, 2001

President Hollis opened meeting at the South Precinct . Present at the meeting were 65 neighbors of Antioch. Councilman Alexander, Brenda Wynn from the Mayors office,
Property Standards Inspector Steve Regen and Jeff Castleberry Metro codes Administrator. Codes passed out literature showing what is codes violations.
President Hollis announced the NOA has been accepted by the National Neighborhood Coalition. He covered the principles of the charter.
Councilman Alexander advised the membership to call codes with violations and to get a case number for follow up, he also said to tell them you are with NOE and to follow up on reports and to be sure you have an address to give to codes.
President Hollis said that we need to prioritize complaints and Brenda Wynn suggested that a neighborhood audit be made listing all concerns. This list to be sent to Metro to be followed up in 6 months to see what had been accomplished.
Wynn also advised that the establishment of Community Enhancement Grants has begun. The 1st one will be awarded Jan.15, 2002, the purpose of the grants are to promote small scale improvement projects in neighborhoods.
The meeting was devoted mostly to complaints of unkept lawns and deterioration of properties.
Duane Groves made a motion to help neighbors who are unable to do the work needed to take care of their property, a committee was formed to create an informational card to be passed out to offending neighbors . Duane Groves being the chairman of this committee. Castleberry with codes advised that they would work with the committtee and let them know who actually needed help..
President Hollis closed the meeting at Approximately 8:30pm
