Stop &Shop in financial trouble?

Two cashiers at the Cottage Street Stop and Shop recently said store hours have been reduced from 24 hours to about 16 per day. Lack of overnight customers prompted the ownership, Royal Ahold of Holland, to make this reduction. Shaw's Supermarkets downsized nationally in 2007; one wonders if it is Stop and Shop's opportunity to close underperforming stores. One Stop and Shop meat department employee said the Cottage Street meat sales have been underpar since the store opened in early 2004.

Competition

Lots of private industry has been trying to be efficient for years...especially now. Watch as gov't also resizes for efficienct services but more to what consumers and their taxpayers want and need and when, not what is more convenient for government.
