Turnout has been good, but it seems to be mostly people who live downtown. I've only seen a couple from our neighborhood.
This project is about streets, sidewalks, crosswalks, parking, buses, etc; NOT real estate!

A lot of these changes can be done for very little money, too. The project team is working with RIDOT to make East Avenue Extension two-way as part of the Bridge 550 mitigation with just striping and minor changes to islands and traffic signals. Improving the roadway alignements and adding those pedestrian "gateway" spaces can come later. It seems like RIDOT is also on board for improving "lower" Pawtucket Avenue to create a more direct route into downtown from East Avenue.
The "bridge park" at the Pride Hyundai site on Division Street is a phenomenal idea, and I really hope the state finds some way to pay for it. A fenced-in drainage ditch there will completely nullify all of the City's efforts to revitalize that side of the river. |

Hopefully all the pieces and questions raised will come get answers as they come together. It is difficult for many to see the values of more fixes to rectify the results of planning disasters of the circulators etc that swept the downtown and other areas of their connectivity and value.
This is just one of the questions raised by others. James Matuszek The road plan looks nice. How will two way traffic work for East Avenue, High Street and Summer Street?
