Greetings from the merchants of the Nokomis Village Association. It’s a pleasure to have this opportunity to acquaint you with some of the work we do. The association is a group of business owners and managers from the Nokomis East community who share views and ideas. Most of our members are from the 34th Ave. and 50th Street commercial node. We have some very fine and active members from other nearby nodes as well as home businesses. We encourage and solicit participation from the whole neighborhood. The purpose of the group is “to further the growth of business activity in our area through joint efforts and concerns, to better serve the needs of the community.”

Nokomis Village Business Association is responsible for Nokomis Day. It is an annual event in August that celebrates the neighborhood and the loyalty of our customers. We have entertainment, food, children’s and seniors activities, displays of merchandise and information, and many retailers hold sidewalk sales. It’s always a great day. We also produce a neighborhood directory as a recurring project which is regarded as a terrific resource for everyday reference by the community.

We are very interested in growing our membership. There are lots of opportunities to touch base with people who have been involved with this neighborhood for decades. Helping out on a committee can afford you a chance to give of your particular talents and make a real difference in the quality of life in this community. The Nokomis Village Association meets every second Friday of the month at 9:00 AM in the meeting room in the basement of Firstar Bank. We invite you as an area merchant, to join our organization to help develop a thriving business community. Dues are very low for the value we get both professionally and personally from our involvement!
