Thanks HOA

Posted in: McIntyre Matters
Obviously everyone has concerns about our neighborhood. Some things matter more than others to this one or that one. But let's understand one fact. The HOA does NOT get compensated in any way for the time they take to help make our neighborhood a better place. If they all walked away from it tomorrow what would happen then? Yes, they did volunteer so they ''asked for'' the responsibility but I for one am thankful they did volunteer. I am not happy with all of the decisions they have made but atleast they have made some effort to make McIntyre a better place. I got one of those ''horrible letters'' about a rules violation and I was HOT! I was HEATED, tore up the letter and was ready to start ringing bells and taking on the whole association. When the initial anger wore off I went and saw a board member, calmly and rationally discussed the issue and walked away satisfied at the outcome. I see alot of annonymous postings and alot of complaining. Everyone has a right to voice their concerns and post their feelings but please don't forget the efforts of the HOA volunteers, even if you think they are misguided. I for one do not have the time to volunteer so I will continue to put my trust.. ''proxey'' if you will... in those who have stepped up. I am sure there will continue to be decisions I do not agree with but if they are THAT serious and I truly cannot live with them I will make the extra effort to get more involved and volunteer as a representative myself as the HOA have suggested. I am one of those people that say '' I DO NOT HAVE TIME TO VOLUNTEER''. I also don't have time to drive to Raleigh on Monday but if I hit that Powerball on Saturday.. guess who's gonna MAKE the time.
Also keep in mind that the HOA is not a police force, a vigilante group nor an armed response squad. If there are unsavory characters in the neigbborhood the HOA is limited in what they can actually do about it. As a matter of fact they have no more authority than any one of us. If you see something that looks dangerous, suspicious, illegal.. call the police. You can't expect the HOA to get up from their beds and go running out into the street with the McIntyre rule book to confront a group of undesirables.
This is not ''US'' against the HOA... it's ALL OF US for McIntyre.

I am glad someone said something

It is very nice to hear that someone understands and acknowledges their efforts for this community. I just hope that other neighbors understand and see that they do not have an easy job. Unfortunately, they do not have a lot of power unless the community steps up and supports what the board is doing or trying to do. They know ALL of our complaints about the neighborhood, and are working hard to get something done about them. There are lots of issues that Centex has caused and for some odd reason, some of our neighbors believe that its the HOA's responsibility to fix. They are trying to do as much as possible. But unfortunately, no one comes to the community meetings or the board meetings to hear what the board is trying to accomplish. McIntyre is OUR community, not just the HOA board. So please, if you cannot volunteer at least come to one board meeting (which you can see on this website) and find out what the board is trying to do for our community.
