NWHA History

In 1982, the developer filed a plat map for Northwood West, for 148 lots, now in Book 95, Pages 1 to 5, and 38 deed restrictions now in O.R. 5339, pages 1741-1745 of Pinellas County Records. By 1984, approximately 50 houses were constructed in the development, and by 1988, most lots were improved. In 1991, SR #580 was a 2-lane road with 2 lanes of seldom-mowed grass.

In 1991, Miss M. Malkasian, when she lived on Frisco Drive, got neighborhood support, collected dues, and formed a Homeowners Association with the help of an attorney, Mr. McKinney, who filed the forms for Incorporation with the State of Florida in April 1991.

At the first annual meeting on April 29, 1992, Hank Jones was elected President; M. Malkasian was elected Vice President, S. Manchester, Secretary, and Sue LaNeve, Treasurer. They organized committees and drafted bylaws, which were approved at the first general meeting on September 14, 1992. The Northwood West members voted not to accept the invitation to join Northwood Estates HOA. At the September 14th meeting, four directors were elected to complete the Board.
