NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PROGRAM

Our Good Neighbor Program

Whether you own or rent a home in the Oak Crest community, a Good Neighbor Program is the single most effective action a community can take to prevent crime because it involves every resident in common sense crime prevention activities. It operates on the premise that people care about their neighborhoods and are concerned not only about the safety of their own families and property, but the families and property of neighbors.

Oak Crest Neighborhood Watch is organized at the 'grass roots' level. Individual streets are organized into street watches with a volunteer street coordinator for each street. One coordinator assists the complete group of street coordinators within each Oak Crest sub-division, resulting in a network of communication. it is neighbor watching out for neighbor and working with the San Antonio Police and Fire Departments for everyone's benefit. The Good Neighbor Program provides a telephone network which is able to quickly alert every resident in case of an emergency.

The Good Neighbor Program encourages all residents to secure their own homes, vehicles and personal property and take appropriate precautions to assure their personal safety and the safety of family members. It goes further involving all residents to report suspicious activity to the San Antonio Police Department and then to your Oak Crest Neighborhood Watch Street Coordinator who then takes action to warn all residents of people, situations or circumstances which may affect their safety and security.

Oak Crest is already a special place in which to live. Involvement and awareness are the keys to a workable neighborhood watch program. The Oak Crest Good Neighbor Program makes our neighborhood safer. You can help with your active participation.
