So the reson I'm given for the curb construction in front of 1815 E. Lawndale is the flooding that occurs a block east at the bottom of a 50+ ft. hill. So where my commercial property is at the top of the hill near the Broadway - Lawndale intersection a curb is being constructed to help divert water down the hill to increase the amount of water that will be contributed to the flood issue at the bottom of the hill.
There is no flood or rainfall issue at the top of Lawndale at Broadway. Money is being wasted that could have been used elsewhere. And on top of it the increased water being diverted to the bottom of the hill will only exacerbate the problem people further east of me wanted addressed.
No one spoke to us about the project or this waste could have been prevented.
Anyone running for city council needs to be committed to having input from those being impacted by any project the City dreams up.
Look at the project as it goes up. It will create a traffic problem at the Broadway/Lawndale intersection and the area just east as the rosd has been narrowed by this work. A pitiful mess that doesn'e solve the problem and only creates the potential for more traffic and water issues. Hans Helland
