Last November or so our lighting district installed a light on Tantallion which helped to light up the wooded street just east of the sewage treatment plant. This helped protect people who exercise their pets and themselves along our streets at night. At that time they wondered if another light was needed for the dark area west of the plant, but it was decided to see if the new light would be bright enough. Since then it has become evident that a light is also needed on the west side so I requested one today.
Since the district will be considering my request, this also presents an opportunity for the board to consider other requests. Therefore, if you see a need for a light or a lighting problem on your street, please email ''Speedy'' Spivacke at dosido@bellsouth.net at your earliest convenience.

Street Light
In response to the request, I have contacted the other members of the Lighting District and they agree with the suggestion.
I am meeting with Singing River Electric on Monday, August 30th at 10 A.M. to get an estimate on the cost of the installation of the light.
Once I have that, I will submit a request to the Board of Supervisors to cover the cost.
Will keep you posted...

Road block
The following update was received from Speedy on 12/8/04:
After speaking with the powers to be with Singing River Electric, it was stated that they did have not the necessary equipment to hook up a light where we wanted it.
In order to do that, they would have to go under the road, and I don't think the Association would want to pay for that.
He got very busy after the hurricane, and we will probably touch base again after the first of the year.

Street Lighting Up-Date
Just this month, we submitted final paperwork to Supervisor John McKay for New Street Lights at the end of Pinehurst Drive in Pinehurst. This has been approved, but I don't have a start date as yet.
Secondly, we also submitted final paperwork on the installation of two new street lights at the end of St. Andrews Drive, just around the bend before you get to Golfing Green Drive.
This is also in the final stages. I also recently spoke with Greg Williams and the Lighting District picked up the responsibility of the lights on Golfing Green Drive, which gave us an access to install the two new lights we want in that area.
We are waiting on final approval from the County at this time.
