if you dont like it move

Stop being un-neighborly...never tell someone to move.
I cant go to your meetings - hubby goes to bed around 8 pm and arises for work at 3:30 am.

So stop the rants about attending your meetings. We are not all 8-5 people.

Bigger fish than monuments

I gather that the money for the marker monuments is coming from a city grant specifically set up for this type of use. If so, then I don't see the problem, in particular I don't see a problem with the association's decision to request this money for this use. If one has a complaint about money going for marker monuments, one should probably rail at the Chandler City Council, not the association.

To be honest, ''waste of money'' was my first reaction, too. However, in view of the source of the money and the intent of the grant set-aside, that is, to promote neighborhood pride (and maintain property values), I've changed my mind and now think it's a good idea. I don't really think that the street sign toppers accomplish anything and are merely a distraction (sorry, I know the intention was honorable), but the entryway markers certainly can't hurt and may even be good.

Boy, I thought the ''discussions'' on Yahoo were vehement! From reading the posts here regarding the monuments, I thought we were in for a full-scale neighborhood war! Then I noticed that the harrangues were really only among three or so residents. Whew.

We have bigger concerns in the world and in the neighborhood than monuments, my friends. Let's be civil and keep things in prespective, shall we? Crime is way too high in our area -- let's keep a closer watch on each other's property, and watch for strangers wandering the streets, strange cars parked by the alleys. Watch out for each other's kids playing in the street, keep an eye on our runaway pets, pick up the neighbor's newspapers when they're away and forgot to hold the paper, that sort of thing. And above all, have the guts to tell our friends to SLOW DOWN when driving through our neighborhood and have the courtesy to get out of their cars and come up to the door, not just sit out in the street and lay on the horn. I confess that as a teen I was guilty of ALL of those things, but you know what? I grew up. It can be done. Spread the word.
