In the last newsletter the issue of speeders in our neighborhood was addressed, asking everyone to slow down. I believe that most of the speeders are not our neighbors taking shortcuts through our area. Over the course of 1 year, two of my vehicles have been totalled while parked in ront of our house, as well as our next door neighbors car being totalled, and the neighbors across the street getting hit as well. We need speed bumps to reduce people using us a short cut!

Speed Bumps in The Coventry
Adria, Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. The Coventry Officers will be discussing this issue at our next meeting. We have been in contact with the City, and are waiting to receive the list of qualifications we must meet in order to have a speed study conducted. In the meantime, here are some facts you should know. There are things you can do to make a difference. Officer Paulis is our community representative and liaison between The Coventry community and the Columbus Police Department. He may be contacted by calling 645-4610 or 645-1415, which is the Community Liaison Section of the Columbus Police Department. Reporting speeders, as well as other crimes or city violations, through Officer Paulis, is the quickest way to get the Police Department's attention and an immediate response. You may also file a report online by going to www.columbuspolice.org or by calling the Police non-emergency line at 645-4545. When you see someone speeding through our neighborhood, take down the license plate number, make, and model of the vehicle, along with a description of the driver and file a report immediately! By frequently filing this type of report, we will prompt a more efficient response from the Columbus Police. These reports will also provide a history of data that will be needed to accelerate the process of qualifying for a community speed study. Last week someone filed a report with the Columbus Police and they were on our streets running radar that same day. This goes to show, we all can make a difference! Please feel free to call or email me anytime. Also, check out our website at www.thecoventryonline.com. We will be posting some informative articles regarding the Block Watch Program. Additionally, our next newsletter will be published in mid September. It will also have some good tips and information that all of our community members should be aware of. Sincerely your President, Chris Canter The Coventry Civic Association By Chris Canter |
