On Thursday 8/17/06 I received a notice form the postmaster stating that I have until 9/16/06 to raise my mailbox to a new height above the street. With the entire subdivision having the same (standard) mailbox, I am sure everyone else in the Links has received the same notice. With that, my thoughts are as follows:
1) If I/we have to make the change, thats fine.
2) I think before we all go off and do our own thing, there should be a define standard.
3) If the homeowners association architectual committee does not get involved, we will no longer have all of our mailboxes look the same.
4) Maybe we could get an extension from the postmaster until we get a common direction.
5) Maybe we could find someone local to make an on-site modification so that mailboxes do not have to be removed and repaired. I have a name that I could contact.
6) This might be a costly repair, so doing it as an association or group might be the most cost effective.
