Crime Reports Works

Posted in: Mt Tabor
In early January, my car was broken into and some items were taken, one was a pair of compact binoculars (value <$100). I filed a crime report with the serial number of the binoculars. A few months later, I received a letter from the police informing me to pick up some of the stolen items which included the binoculars. Last month, I was notified that the police had a suspect and the trial is scheduled for June.

I initially did not intend to file a crime report, but being a board member of the Mt. Tabor Nieghborhood Assoc., I wanted at least a record that a crime had taken place.

It is a good idea to report stolen goods especially if you have records of the serial number(s). And items that don't have i.d., but are turned into a second hand store for sale may be recovered too.
