Rights and Responsibilities

Posted in: Concordia
When foliage from a neighboring yard extends over the boundary and you wish to remove it, you have the right to remove the foliage. However, you also have the responsibility to dispose of the debris yourself. You do not have the right to place the debris on your neighbor's property.

You have the right to landscape your yard as best suits you. However, you have the responsibility to ensure that growth of grass and weeds is not out of control and in violation of City Code. (Overgrown lawn areas. Cut and remove and keep cut and removed all weeds and grass that are located in lawn areas and have a prevailing height of more than 10 inches.)

You have the right to enjoy peace and quiet within the confines of your own living space. You do not have the right to dictate sound or type of sound from neighbors unless it exceeds the City Ordinance limits. In which case, you would need to contact the police to ask them to enforce the Ordinance.

Ordinances and Codes are the responsibility of all citizens to uphold. However, they are the responsibility of Law Enforcement to enforce.
