Panhandling on Division/Hawthorn

Posted in: Richmond
Division merchants and neighbors report an increase in panhandling on that street.

Do you think this is a problem? What resources are you aware of to fix this problem?

Did you know that "Sisters of the Road Cafe" has a coupon book for free meals, that you can purchase and hand out to panhandlers. Several Hawthorne merchants have them available for sale at their businesses.

HAND (Hosford Abernathy Neighborhood) sponsored a discussion on the issues of homeless in HAND and Richmond in March. Several speakers were present to talk about resources available or not available. JOIN and the Portland City Licensing Office representatives were present.

If you would like to become active in addressing this issue in Richmond HAND and Division Clinton Business Association (D/CBA) are forming a task force. Contact Susan Pearce (HAND chair), or Diane Rulien, D/CBA chair for more information.
